What 🠶 means
Use a character picker for text; use the language’s Unicode escape in code.
For HTML, use 🠶; for CSS, write \1F836; for JavaScript, write \u{1F836}. Each form represents the same character.
As of 2026, Noto Sans Symbols 2 lists Supplemental Arrows-C among its supported blocks. A font without the glyph may show a box or fallback mark even though the text is intact.
What does a finger-post arrow mean?
It points right, like onward or the next stop.
The name refers to a fingerpost: a signpost with projecting arms that direct travelers to named places. A surviving English example dates from 1669; the English Highways Act of 1697 authorized direction posts at crossroads. These signs guided travel using destinations and sometimes distances.
A Unicode working document from 2012 places the arrow in work that mapped Wingdings and Webdings, two symbol fonts, into Unicode. The text character keeps the directional cue without a named destination.
Neutral and diagram-like: it gives direction, not emotion.
Add a label when the destination matters; the arrow alone says right, not where to go.
