What 🠊 means
Use a Unicode-aware symbol picker or your app’s character map. No ordinary keyboard has a dedicated key for 🠊.
An old slot in Wingdings 3 works only in a document using that font; Unicode makes the character more portable between apps, but the receiving app still needs a font that can draw it.
Kris Holmes and Charles Bigelow designed Lucida Icons, Arrows, and Stars in 1990 and 1991; Microsoft reorganized them into Wingdings, released in 1992. Wingdings 3 includes this large-head arrow. A 2011 Unicode proposal sought dedicated characters so symbol-font pictures could be exchanged and searched without relying on private font slots.
What does 🠊 mean?
It points right to a next step or destination. Between labels, it can mean “leads to,” “maps to,” or “becomes.” In a message, its oversized head makes direction easy to spot, so it reads like a diagram cue more than an emotional reaction.
The arrow idea predates this font style: a 1737 hydraulic diagram used an arrow to show water flow and wheel rotation. Maps use arrows for movement, while technical diagrams use them to show relationships.
Technical and diagrammatic; it signals direction or sequence more readily than emotion.
By itself, it can point nowhere; name the destination when ambiguity matters.

2Questions people ask
1Why does 🠊 show as a box?
The active font lacks its glyph. Unicode identifies the character, but the app needs a supporting font or fallback to display it.

A visible symbol can contain several code points. JS .length counts UTF-16 units; UTF-8 counts bytes.
