What ⇘ means
It marks a southeast-directed relation in technical writing.
The SE double arrow belongs to a four-direction set: points northwest, northeast, and southwest. The single southeast arrow is a different character. MathML, a web format for math, treats ⇘ as a stretchy relation written between the items it connects; math references group it with comparison signs.
Technical standardization gives ⇘ a relational role within established arrow notation; the formula supplies the exact relation. It is not a universal instruction to move southeast.
Why can this arrow look different in another document?
Different fonts can change its proportions.
In ordinary text, the active font draws the character. Mathematical layout may stretch it or change its spacing, so the arrow can look shorter, heavier, or less clearly double. If the stroke count matters, inspect it in the document's font; a screenshot can hide the distinction.
Use when the source calls for a single southeast arrow. Reserve ⇘ for the double-arrow form; notation can give them different jobs.
A technical relation mark; as of 2026, it has no stable casual-chat reading.
Two shafts do not make it a universal command to move southeast.

1⇘ font support
Yes. The active font determines whether a distinct glyph is available and how it looks; a mathematical font is more likely to keep both shafts clear.
