What ➼ means
A fancier way to say "this way" or "next item". It means exactly what a plain arrow means: direction, a next step, or "what follows matters". The wedge tail just makes it look more like an archer's arrow and less like a diagram, which is why people pick it to decorate list items, social media bios, menu lines and section headings.
Its design comes from ITC Zapf Dingbats, a 1978 set of ornaments and symbols by the German type designer Hermann Zapf. That font shipped with early laser printers, and Unicode took most of its symbols, ➼ included, into the Dingbats block. Because it is a text character, it takes the colour and style of your font rather than appearing as a colourful emoji.
Neutral and decorative: a touch more stylish than a plain arrow, never rude or loaded.

Questions people ask
2Why does ➼ look different on another device?
Because each font draws it. Stroke weight, tail shape and size vary, and a font without it may show an empty box.
Is ➼ an emoji?
No. It is a plain text symbol, so it has no colour version and follows your text colour.
