upper left quadrant face with closed eyes

Upper-left closed-eye face tile

169/686

𜲨 is the upper-left quarter of a closed-eye face from Sharp MZ screen graphics. Alone, it looks cropped because the full drawing used neighboring character cells.

What 𜲨 means

Sharp released the MZ-700 in 1982; its pre-drawn character cells could assemble small screen graphics. The European alternate display table maps this face tile to character 93. Unicode preserves such old glyphs so legacy files and emulators can retain them.

Why does 𜲨 show as a box?

The active font may lack this glyph. Cascadia Code added quadrant support in release 2404.03 (2024), but display depends on the font and app in use.

93 was an alternate-table code, not Unicode. On MZ-700, keyboard entry was unavailable; BASIC could display that character bank with POKE.
