What ꘠ means
Read ꘠ as zero. Ten Vai-style decimal forms were devised in the 1920s as variants of European digits—the familiar 0–9. They kept the same decimal values while giving the numerals a Vai visual style.
The set gave decimal notation a Vai appearance without changing its values. Each form corresponds to one of the familiar digits from 0 to 9.
Keep ꘠ for historical Vai typography
As of 2026, ordinary Vai writing uses European digits; the ten Vai-style forms are historical rather than the everyday set. For ordinary Vai text, use 0. Use ꘠ when reproducing this historical style or studying its numeral forms.
Historical and typographic: ꘠ marks a Vai-styled zero, not a different value.
As of 2026, use 0 for ordinary Vai text; ꘠ belongs to the historical set.
