very heavy reverse solidus

Very Heavy Reverse Solidus

🙽 is a thick backslash shape used as ornament; it has no fixed word or command meaning. Its weight depends on the font, and a font without the glyph may show a missing-character box. The surrounding layout gives the diagonal its visual role.

What 🙽 means

It is a decorative diagonal, not a word or command.

🙽 can add a heavy accent to a title or divider. In code, escape syntax, or a file path, use the ordinary backslash \; this ornament is a different character.

Where did this symbol come from?

Its documented trail begins in the Webdings font.

The earliest documented appearance of this exact form is in Webdings, a Microsoft symbol font designed in 1997 for quick web graphics. Its backslash-key position displayed the heavy diagonal.

Unicode later included font-derived ornaments like this for compatibility with Wingdings, Wingdings 2, and some Webdings symbols. 🙼 is the opposite-sloping partner in this heavy pair.

Ornamental and typographic; it does not carry a standard conversational meaning.

Use `\` where code or a path needs the ordinary backslash.
