What 𞋁 means
It represents the Wancho vowel /ə/, a schwa.
A schwa is the unstressed central vowel heard at the start of English “about” in many accents. Here, “A” labels the letter; it does not cue English “ay.”
Does 𞋁 show tone?
No. A separate mark shows the vowel’s tone.
Tone is the pitch pattern of a syllable. A small tone mark attaches to a vowel letter; Upper and Lower Wancho use some marks differently. The bare 𞋁 gives you the vowel, but not the syllable’s full pitch.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𞋁 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Wancho block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
