What ꄶ means

It represents one syllable in standardized Liangshan Yi. Its Latin-letter transcription is ddit: dd marks the initial consonant, i the vowel, and final t the high-level tone. The word's meaning comes from the surrounding Yi text; this syllable alone has no dependable chat reading.

A bronze bell dated 1485 is identified as the earliest securely dated surviving example for the tradition; paper and sheepskin Yi texts survive from around 1500.

Traditional Yi writing was mainly maintained by bimo priests, Yi religious specialists, for religious rites, magic, medicine, and genealogy. The standardized Liangshan form was devised in 1974 and officially promulgated in 1980 to improve literacy. It drew on older Northern Yi forms and established a phonetic syllabary for Liangshan Yi; its scope was not every Yi variety. Yi traditions in Yunnan and Guizhou may use different glyph inventories and readings.

How do I type ꄶ?

Use a Yi-aware input method and enter ddit. It converts the Latin-letter Yi Pinyin syllable into a character candidate; select ꄶ from the results. Do not treat ddit as ordinary English or Mandarin pinyin.

ꄶ is a text character, not an emoji; it signals writing in the standardized Liangshan Yi syllabary.

Alone, it does not reveal a mood or a complete Yi word.
