What ꌒ means
It represents one Nuosu (Liangshan Yi) syllable.
Yi Pinyin, a Latin-letter system, writes it sa; the unmarked Liangshan form has a steady mid-level pitch.
Yi religious specialists called bimo used Classical Yi for ritual and magical texts, medicine, and genealogies; the script’s origins are debated. The earliest securely dated surviving Yi inscription is on a bronze bell from 1485; many older manuscripts are undated. The Liangshan standard, selected in 1974 and official in 1980, assigns one sign per syllable. Other Yi varieties and Classical Yi manuscripts may use different forms.
