What ꋙ means

ꋙ is the Nuosu syllable zzax. Nuosu is a Yi language; zzax is its Latin spelling. Nuosu tones are pitch patterns: ꋙ is the secondary-high-tone form of ꋚ zza, “meal.”

Older Yi writing served priests in religious, magical, medical and genealogical traditions. Objects attributed to Western Han times are debated as evidence of early Yi writing; a bronze bell dated 1485 is commonly cited as the oldest surviving monument with Yi writing. The Liangshan standard drew on regional Yi writing rather than Han characters; it was devised in 1974 and promulgated in 1980.

Why does ꋙ show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
