What ࣖ means
It marks where a ruku ends.
A ruku is a passage grouping for Qur’an recitation. A 2014 Pakistani proposal also associates this mark with a chapter’s end.
A 2026 comparison reports the mark alone in Bombay editions and with numbers in Karachi editions. It cites a Bombay Qur’an dated 1866 as part of the wider print history, not as this mark’s origin. As a combining mark, ࣖ attaches to nearby Arabic text; unsupported fonts may misplace or omit it.
Specialist Qur’anic reading notation, not ordinary punctuation.
