What ࣍ means
It changes how a base Arabic letter is recited.
Qaloon is one transmitted reading of the Qur’an. Its notation uses this mark for ض read as ظ; a separate role at waqf, a recitation pause, is only proposed.
࣍ attaches to a base letter. When Arabic marks stack, text systems can reorder them while shaping the script; an invisible combining grapheme joiner can preserve a special order.
A specialist Qur’anic reading mark, not ordinary Arabic spelling.
Use it only when the Qur’anic edition you are following calls for it.

Questions people ask
1Why does ࣍ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
