What ⭝ means
It marks a continued fall in speech pitch.
This Lithuanian falling tone mark records how pitch in a spoken phrase keeps dropping, a detail ordinary spelling cannot show. It leans backward by design; related marks use matching angles for rising pitch, sharp falls, and a rise followed by a fall.
The 2011 Unicode proposal cites Gerullis's 1930 studies of Lithuanian dialects as an earlier source for this notation and groups the marks for digital encoding. ⭝ entered Unicode in 2014.
