What ৪ means
In Bengali numbers, ৪ stands for four.
Brahmi numerals, an early Indian number system, are recorded by the early third century BC and changed through the 4th century AD. They served record-keeping, including dates and rulers' reign years. Bengal's forms appear in Gupta-period copper plates, Pala-period records and Sena-period manuscripts; Sena-period forms relate to modern Bangla numerals.
Older Bengali money notation used separate ānā signs, a fractional money unit, until 1957; those were currency marks, not forms of ৪.
