Block Octant-12458

390/686

𜶋 is one Kaypro graphics tile: a pattern of eight on/off cells arranged in two columns and four rows. Kaypro used such tiles to draw low-resolution pictures in a character-based display; the digits in this modern name identify the lit cells.

What 𜶋 means

It is a tile for drawing Kaypro computer graphics.

In 1984, Kaypro drawing software treated each character position as a 24 pixel patch. Neighboring positions joined into low-resolution drawings.

A 2021 Unicode proposal maps this pattern to Kaypro graphics code E7. It supplied the descriptive octant name because older vendors usually showed these patterns without naming each one.

Why does this symbol look like an empty box?

The font may lack its glyph. As of 2026, some terminal fonts still omit Unicode 16 octants by default; a font with these glyphs can display it.
