block octant-127

Block Octant-127

307/686

𜴸 is a pixel tile: three squares filled in a 24 grid. Kaypro text screens used semigraphics—block mosaics inside text cells—for rough graphics in the early 1980s; Unicode’s octants extend the older quadrant and sextant mosaic idea.

Text symbol

What 𜴸 means

It marks three squares inside one text cell. In the 24 mosaic, “127” names its filled positions; neighboring tiles combine into rough drawings.

Why does it show as a blank box?

The selected font may lack its glyph. If it appears as a blank box, use a font that aligns neighboring tiles on the same 24 grid.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𜴸 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
