What 𜴤 means

Parts 1, 3, 4, and 6 of the grid are filled. An octant is one of eight small rectangles inside a character-sized text space.

The idea predates this character: teletext, a TV text service, used block mosaics in the early 1970s; some home computers used them for low-resolution pictures from the mid-1970s to mid-1980s. Unicode added related graphics for compatibility in 1991; the sets also help preserve legacy character data and support emulators and terminal graphics.
