What means
In Word 2024 for Windows, type 1CD23, then press Alt+X. The same method works in Word for Microsoft 365. If other hexadecimal letters or digits touch the code, select only 1CD23 before the shortcut.
What does the “346” pattern do?
It is one tile in old text-screen graphics. The 1983 user guide for the Kaypro 10 personal computer describes each graphics character position as eight pixels, two across by four down. Software combined patterns across neighboring positions to make low-resolution pictures. Here, “octant” names the eight-part grid, and “346” identifies the filled cells: 3, 4, and 6.

Questions people ask
1Why does show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
