Block Octant 23567

354/686

𜵧 is a five-part tile in a 24 text-graphics grid. Kaypro CP/M used octants to draw with characters; Unicode preserves that mosaic for terminal art.

What 𜵧 means

Five of the octant’s eight mini-blocks are filled. The suffix lists the occupied cells; adjacent tiles form semigraphics, larger images built from character-sized blocks.

How do octants make terminal graphics?

They turn text cells into tiny block graphics. Kaypro’s character table maps this pattern to C6 in its reverse-video set, which swaps light and dark. By 1984, Kaypro CP/M used the 24 grid to draw rough images with text; Unicode preserves these characters for conversion and emulation.

Why does block octant 23567 show as a box?

A font must support this octant glyph. Cascadia Code added octant support in 2024; without a compatible font, an app may show an empty box.

Why does 𜵧 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
