Block Octant-3567

𜵥 is a pixel tile for 2x4 graphics: one part of a rough picture built from text characters. Its name records the filled subcells, so the pattern itself carries the meaning.

What 𜵥 means

It fills cells 3, 5, 6 and 7. An octant divides one character cell into two columns and four rows.

Kaypro's CP/M computers used 2x4 block characters to plot pixels and lines. By 1983, a Kaypro 10 guide documents this method; the patterns sat above ASCII and could be stored in text files. Unicode carries the pattern as a text character.

Why does this character show as a box?

A missing-glyph box means the font lacks this shape. Microsoft added support for all octants to Cascadia Code in April 2024; a font with that coverage can display it.
