Block Octant-235678

474/686

𜷟 is a text-mode graphics tile with six of eight tiny cells filled. Kaypro used 2-by-4 mosaics for screen drawings; terminal tools can use octants as pixel-like blocks.

Text symbol

What 𜷟 means

It fills six positions in a two-column, four-row grid. Programs combine these cells to sketch pictures in text.

A 1983 Kaypro 10 guide documents 2-by-4 graphics characters. Unicode's 2022 proposal maps this pattern to Kaypro's reverse-video set, which swaps light and dark, and names octants by analogy with quadrant and sextant mosaics.
