Block Octant-2368

399/686

𜶔 is one eight-cell tile in a block pattern for drawing low-resolution graphics with text. A program can use it as a chunky pixel inside a larger image.

Text symbol

What 𜶔 means

It's one tile in an eight-cell graphics grid. A Kaypro 10 guide from 1983 explains how octant blocks made text graphics: each text position holds eight small cells in two columns and four rows, switched on or off by software. The digits in 2368 name this fill arrangement.

In 2021, Unicode proposal authors described the wider set as a way to preserve old computer text, support emulators and add graphics to text-mode apps.

Keep octant tiles aligned

To build a larger image, use a fixed-width font, where every character takes the same width, and avoid line wraps; proportional spacing can break the grid.

Why does this block octant appear as a box?
