Block Octant-368

398/686

𜶓 fills three squares in a tiny 2-by-4 picture tile. Semigraphics uses character cells to sketch images when a computer cannot address individual pixels.

Text symbol

What 𜶓 means

It is one patch inside a character-sized picture.

An octant divides a text cell into eight blocks, in two columns and four rows. The digits 3, 6 and 8 identify the filled cells; adjacent tiles can join into rough shapes.

A 1983 guide for the Kaypro 10 home computer describes eight on/off pixels per character cell for plotting lines. Unicode preserves each tile so old text can be converted without losing its graphics.
