Block Octant-2568

409/686

𜶞 is a four-cell tile for low-resolution pictures in a text grid. This octant comes from an old-computer mosaic family.

Text symbol

What 𜶞 means

It fills four positions in an eight-part text tile.

Count a 24 cell grid across each row: positions 2, 5, 6, and 8 are filled—the top-right cell, both cells in row three, and bottom-right. Joined octants draw low-resolution pictures or bars; this is semigraphics.

The broader mosaic family appeared on microcomputers from the mid-1970s to mid-1980s, where it let text-only screens draw simple images. Kaypro’s character table maps this tile to code F1. Unicode preserves the set for text conversion and emulation.
