Light Top and Upper-Left Box Drawing

30/686

𜰝 is a light box-drawing piece for text borders and terminal graphics. It joins other character-cell pieces into longer lines; a font without its glyph may show a missing-character box.

What 𜰝 means

It is one stroke in a character-cell drawing. A character cell is the square slot each symbol occupies on a text terminal. 𜰝 marks its top and upper-left edges, so its line only works beside compatible pieces.

Home computers and teletext—a TV service for sending pages of text and simple graphics—used cell-sized designs in the 1970s and 1980s. In 2021, Unicode proposed legacy characters like this to preserve text exchange with old machines, emulators and text-mode software.

Why does 𜰝 show as a box?

The active font may not include its glyph, so the app shows a missing-character box. GNU Unifont 16.0.03 added this part of the legacy set on 19 April 2025.
