What 呈 means
It is a historical variant of the Chinese character 呈. In Chinese, 呈 means to show or present something, or to submit it. The old Chinese dictionary Yupian glosses 呈 as “level” and “explain”; later references list it as a variant of 呈, though one calls that popular form mistaken.
Taiwan’s CNS 11643 character standard lists this source form as T4-235B.
Why can 呈 become 呈?
Unicode normalization maps it to 呈. The standard also defines the variant sequence 呈︀ (呈 followed by invisible UFE00) to request this source glyph with the unified character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 呈 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
