What 晉 means
It is an encoding twin of 晉, not a separate word.
晉 appears in Shang bone inscriptions used for divination and Western Zhou bronze inscriptions; its early form is uncertain. Added in 2001, 晉 lets Taiwan's CNS 11643-1992 encoding standard convert characters to Unicode and back without losing distinct codes from planes (numbered sections) 3–7 and 15.
Canonical normalization, Unicode's standard text-cleanup process, maps 晉 to 晉. Use 晉 in ordinary writing; keep 晉 only when the exact source code point must survive.

Questions people ask
1Why does 晉 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
