What 榣 means
榣 maps to 榣, whose older sense is a tree in motion.
The Chinese character 榣 appears in the Shuowen Jiezi, a dictionary completed around 121 CE, with the gloss “tree movement”—a tree swaying. Its structure joins 木, the tree/wood element, to a part indicating pronunciation. Later dictionaries also record it as a kind of large tree. The Classic of Mountains and Seas, a Chinese book about mountains and wonders, names 榣木 on Mount Huaijiang; Guo Pu’s note says a second named tree, 若木, grows above it.

Questions people ask
1Why does 榣 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
