What 媵 means
It represents 媵, meaning “send or accompany.”
Compiled around 100 CE, the early Chinese dictionary Shuowen Jiezi records 㑞 as an older form of 媵 and glosses it “send.” In the ritual text Yi Li, a younger sister or niece accompanied the bride as her 媵; the fifth-century Hou Hanshu uses it for a concubine.
