What 鏹 means
Unicode treats 鏹 and 鏹 as the same character.
Taiwan’s CNS 11643 assigns 鏹 to 15-665E in its household-registration set. This extra code preserves that exact source form when text moves between CNS and Unicode.
In China’s Jin and Tang dynasties, poets used 鏹 for money: Zuo Si wrote of stored wealth; Bai Juyi of 300 coins. Later dictionaries also record silver. Japanese sources describe 鏹 as a cord for stringing coins, used there around the Muromachi period.
A Taiwan legacy code, not a routine spelling.

Questions people ask
1Why does 鏹 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
