What 𩖶 means
It is an encoded form of 𩖶, glossed as “a small wind.” The Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary compiled around 100 CE, records that meaning for 𩖶 and describes it as the wind element plus a sound-bearing component.
𩖶 is kept as a separate character for round-trip conversion with a source form in Taiwan’s CNS 11643 standard. Unicode’s NFKC and NFKD forms replace it with 𩖶, so text normalization can erase the source-specific distinction.
A technical encoding distinction with a historical Chinese dictionary sense behind it.
NFKC changes 𩖶 to 𩖶; NFKD does too, so neither preserves the source-specific code point.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𩖶 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
