What 𥋛 means
Its shape comes from variants of 矚.
In 矚, 目 (“eye”) gives the meaning and 屬 supplies the sound. The 2024 Taiwan variant dictionary traces 𥋛 to a mistaken or abbreviated spelling.
A Northern Wei period geographical work, Commentary on the Water Classic, uses 矚 for looking up and down at a river view. Song-era Chinese pronunciation dictionaries Guangyun and Jiyun gloss it as “see” and “look intently.” The 997 Longkan Shoujian, a dictionary for Buddhist texts, records variant spellings later lexicographers use to explain 𥋛.
This is a rare, nonstandard spelling of the word written 矚.
For ordinary writing, use 矚 in Traditional Chinese or 瞩 in Simplified Chinese.
