What means
Its source is China's Ministry of Public Security ID system. Unicode lists as a nonstandard simplified variant of 顧 under tag GIDC23-586. In 2023, the Extension I block was fast-tracked for urgent use in China after a draft amendment to the mandatory GB 18030 character-encoding standard.
In Mandarin, 顧 is pronounced gù: “look back,” later extending to “attend to” or “care for.” Its traditional form appears in Western Zhou Chinese bronze inscriptions.
