What 𰳖 means
It is a rare Chu-script graph linked to 苛 (kē), “harsh.”
The glyph’s source reference points to Sarah Allan’s Buried Ideas, p. 246, fig. 276, a scholarly edition of early Chinese bamboo-slip writing. In Rong Cheng shi, a Chu bamboo-slip text, 苛慝 is translated as “the troublesome and the evil”; historian Yuri Pines explains that the passage praises a sage ruler for removing harm. This manuscript tradition dates to the Warring States period (475–221 BCE).
