What 漯 means
It names an old waterway and appears in a city name.
The classic Chinese Book of Documents describes water routes for sending goods as tribute; its 禹贡 chapter names 漯水 on a route to the Yellow River. 漯阴 was a county name in the Qin–Han era. The old river course is no longer extant as of 2026.
In modern use, 漯河 names a city in Henan. Mandarin reads 漯水/漯川 as tà (roughly “tah,” with a falling tone) and 漯河 as luò (roughly “lwoah,” also falling).
Its documented uses are geographic and historical; its tone is neutral.
Read the whole compound: 漯水 and 漯河 have different Mandarin readings.
