What 跃 means
To leap, jump, or spring upward; sometimes to move swiftly.
The Book of Poetry, an ancient Chinese poetry collection, includes the line “鳶飛戾天，魚躍于淵”: “The kite flies to the sky; the fish leaps in the deep pool.” The line uses 躍, the traditional form.
The leap extends beyond physical motion: 飞跃 is a leap forward, 活跃 means active or lively, and 跃跃欲试 means eager to try something.
Neutral in writing; compounds can give it an energetic, forward-moving tone.
By itself, 跃 reads as “leap”; the surrounding conversation tells the recipient why it was sent.
