What ❺ means
As a list marker, it marks item five. Beside a heading, it labels point five.
Enclosed numerals were designed as bullets; later ranges expanded the set.
Why won't Word number ❺ automatically?
Insert it manually. A 2012 Microsoft Word answer says circled list numbers need manual insertion, not automatic numbering; use Word's symbol dialog and adjust spacing.
