What ፱ means
Alone, it means nine. Geʽez is a classical Ethiopian language; values run from larger to smaller, with no zero.
Unicode traces the signs to Greek letters, perhaps through Coptic, a Greek-derived script for Egyptian. A 2023 study argues instead for local Geʽez origins from consonant signs and punctuation strokes. It names Hənzat Stela 1, probably from the third century AD, as the oldest known inscription with numeral signs; earlier inscriptions spelled numbers out.
Traditional: Geʽez literature and document numbering. In modern writing, calculations, phone numbers and decimals usually use Western digits.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
