What o means
It is the Latin letter o in a wide character form.
Fullwidth forms let Latin letters occupy the same kind of square cell used for East Asian writing, where matching character widths can help align text. o has the same letter value as o, but a distinct encoded identity; the font and layout affect how wide it looks.
In 1978, the Japanese JIS C 6226 character set (later called JIS X 0208) included Latin letters alongside kana, symbols, and kanji. It carried narrow Roman letters and fullwidth forms in a mixed-width text system.
Why did someone send me o?
Usually, it signals width or styling, not a different letter meaning.
In Japanese input, it may come from a fullwidth alphanumeric mode. In vaporwave styling during 2010–2013, fullwidth Latin became a retro visual cue: aesthetic looks stretched and deliberately old-fashioned.
Usually technical or visual; repeated fullwidth letters can signal deliberate retro styling.
For usernames, forms, and code, use o unless fullwidth is requested.

2Questions people ask
3Will o match ordinary o in search or login?
Not always. Some software applies compatibility normalization that maps o to o; strict ASCII or exact-match fields may keep them distinct.
Why does o look wider than o?
Its encoded form is fullwidth, but the font and layout determine its displayed shape and width.
Is o safe in a username or code?
Only if the service accepts non-ASCII text or asks for fullwidth. Ordinary o is more compatible.
