What 띋 means
Enter its jamo in a Korean input method, or use Unicode input.
On a common two-set Korean keyboard, enter ㄸ, then ㅢ, then final ㄷ; ㄸ may require Shift. These jamo are Hangul’s letter pieces.
Unicode can store the syllable as one precomposed block or as separate position-specific jamo. If an editor gives you separate jamo, Unicode NFC normalization can join them into one block.
What does 띋 mean?
It is one syllable; its word meaning depends on context.
Its components make a sound sequence, not a translation of a complete word. Hangul was devised at King Sejong’s court in 1443 and introduced in 1446 through Hunminjeongeum, a guide to the writing system. The block design groups consonant and vowel letters into syllables to write Korean speech.
Before 1894, official documents used Hanja (Chinese characters), while Hangul also appeared in correspondence and literature. The 1894 reform brought Korean-only and mixed Korean-Chinese documents into official use.
Why might 띋 appear in an old spelling manual?
It can appear as an example in a Korean spelling rule.
A reconstructed edition of North Korea’s 1948 spelling manual 조선어 신철자법 uses 띋 in a comparison of forms across verb endings. That makes it an example of spelling practice; it does not show the block serving as an independent reaction.
Hangul typefaces can resize and reposition components inside the square syllable block, so spacing and proportions may vary by font. The surrounding letters and block structure are better checks than proportions alone.
Neutral as Korean text; by itself, it does not tell you how to read the surrounding message.
Do not infer a specific mood from 띋 alone.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
