팰 is a Hangul syllable, a block in Korean writing. In 팰 수 있다 it comes from 패다 (“to chop or split”).

Text symbol

What 팰 means

One use comes from 패다. 팰 수 있다 means “can chop or split.” The Korean name 팰월드 uses 팰 to spell “Pal” as of 2026.

Hangul was devised under King Sejong because Chinese characters were difficult to use for Korean. It was created in 1443; the 1446 book Hunminjeongeum explained the letters. Some scholars compare Hangul’s letter shapes with Phags-pa, a script used by the Mongol Empire; direct influence remains disputed.

Why is 팰 a box on my screen?

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
