hangul syllable peoh

Hangul syllable peoh

10136/11172

펗 is a Hangul syllable block built from ㅍ, ㅓ, and ㅎ; as of 2026-09-13, it has no established meaning as a Korean word by itself. On the standard South Korean two-set keyboard, v, j, g enter those parts in order and the Korean input method assembles the block.

What 펗 means

No standalone Korean word meaning for 펗 is established.

It combines the initial consonant ㅍ, vowel ㅓ, and final consonant ㅎ. These Hangul letters, called jamo, explain the block's construction; the Unicode label “peoh” names its components, not a word gloss.

Hangul was officially promulgated in 1446 in Hunminjeongeum, a book explaining the new alphabet. Its design arranges letters into syllable blocks; that dates the writing system, not the first use of 펗 itself.

How do I type 펗?

On a Korean input method, enter ㅍ, then ㅓ, then ㅎ.

On the standard South Korean two-set keyboard layout, type v, j, and g in that order. The keys enter those parts, and the Korean input method assembles them into 펗.

The bottom ㅎ is the final consonant of the same syllable, not another syllable. If the input stays as separate letters, the input method has not composed the block.

Why can 펗 look different across fonts?

The stored text and the displayed block can differ.

Unicode can store 펗 as one precomposed character or as an equivalent sequence of conjoining jamo—Hangul letters that a font shapes into a syllable block. The separate visible letters ㅍ, ㅓ, ㅎ are a teaching or keyboard-input spelling, not that decomposed encoding.

Fonts may draw the components differently, but correct line breaking keeps a Hangul syllable together. A different drawing or stored form does not give the block a new meaning.

Neutral in a character reference, but opaque in ordinary Korean chat.

Do not use 펗 alone to communicate a Korean word; readers have no established word meaning to recover.

Why does 펗 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
