What ❱ means
It serves as ornamental closing punctuation or a decorative text divider. In layout work, designers occasionally place ❱ before a short label or between items to lend visual direction, though its primary structural role is closing text opened by ❰.
Hermann Zapf drew the original symbol set in 1977, and ITC released the Zapf Dingbats typeface in 1978. It became widely established as a standard PostScript printer font in the 1980s and 1990s. Unicode added ❱ in 2002 alongside its opening partner ❰ to provide consistent digital encoding for ornamental brackets.
Its stroke weight and curve can vary depending on the font.
Do not use it in place of > in code or mathematical comparisons.
