What 𘱙 means
It writes qatun, the Khitan title for a khan’s wife.
A khan was a ruler; “wife of a khan” is precise, while “queen” is a shortcut.
How did the word and script travel?
Khitan Small Script developed in the 10th-century Liao dynasty to write Khitan, adapting Chinese writing into a distinct system. The earliest surviving inscription is Yelü Yugulin Taishi’s epitaph, a tomb text dated to the Chongxi era (1032–1055).
The Khitan word qatun appears in Old Turkic Orkhon inscriptions as a ruler’s-wife title; related forms later named high-ranking women in Turkic, Persian, and Mongol courts. The Jurchen scripts of the 12th century drew on both Khitan scripts.
A historical court title with formal meaning.
“Queen” is a shortcut; qatun specifically names a ruler’s wife.

1Why does 𘱙 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
