What 𘱘 means
It is read nai; context supplies its English sense.
In a date inscription it fills the month-name slot for the year's opening month.
Why was this script created?
It gave the Khitan people a way to write their language.
Yelü Diela created it around 925 under the Khitan-ruled Liao dynasty. It borrowed Chinese-character forms; Uyghur script is named as an influence, though few forms resemble it. Khitan Large Script served the same language. Inscriptions include dates from 983; many are tomb epitaphs—stone memorials buried with the dead—and it appears on mirrors and tallies. Jurchen writers later borrowed Khitan models.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘱘 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
