What 𘲓 means
It represents a reconstructed sound, not an English translation. Researchers reconstructed Khitan sounds approximately by comparing them with Chinese pronunciation of the period. In Khitan writing, sound signs like this usually join into a block spelling one word.
Why did Khitan writers use this script?
To write the Khitan language. It developed around 925, and its design is said to have been inspired by Uyghur script, though few visible forms resemble it. It remained in use under the Khitan-led Liao dynasty and into the early Jin. Khitan Large Script was its distinct counterpart for the same language and region. Small-script writing survives chiefly on tomb epitaphs—inscriptions on grave monuments—and other monuments.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘲓 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
