Khitan Small Script Character 18CC1

450/471

𘳁 is a Khitan Small Script character; its Unicode label is an ID, not a translation. The script recorded the Khitan language; the earliest surviving securely dated carved text is from 1051. Traditional accounts credit its creation to Yelü Diela, but a 2026 study argues standardization came later. Its forms drew on Chinese writing, and Jurchen writing later followed the Khitan model. Jin authorities ended use of Khitan scripts in 1191.

Why does 𘳁 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
