What 🮵 means
Its original 88 top stroke was incomplete.
Apple's December 1983 Apple IIc manual lists 32 MouseText graphics, noting they moved faster than dot-by-dot pictures. Apple's January 1989 developer note says the set let Apple II software draw desktop-style interfaces on text screens.
Unicode's 2019 proposal identifies this as an Apple MouseText arrow and explains the change: Apple II's top line was incomplete, while the Unicode chart shows a fuller, still-gapped stroke. The redraw preserves the character's identity and supports converting legacy text.

Questions people ask
1Why does 🮵 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
