Leftwards harpoon with barb down from bar

93/126

⥞ is a harpoon-shaped math arrow, but its outline alone does not define a relation; the notation around it supplies the meaning. In mathematical markup, it can act as a stretchy operator between expressions.

What ⥞ means

MathML 2 allows it to stretch to fit the formula.

For ⥞, the MathML 2 operator dictionary lists ⥞ as “infix” (placed between expressions) and “stretchy” (allowed to expand with the layout). These are layout instructions; they do not define the relation on their own.

Questions people ask

1

Why does ⥞ show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
